At Ladywood, our PE experiences are planned to promote positive attitudes towards physical activity and healthy lifestyles. This year, we are very proud of achieving Gold in the Sainsbury’s School Games Mark. Through a range of enjoyable physical activities, the pupils are given opportunities to develop their fundamental physical skills of agility, balance and coordination.                           

We believe that high quality out-of-hours learning is of importance to our children and provides many opportunities for them to participate in after-school PE activities and competitions. Our Learning Mentors fully support and further enhance the children’s physical learning and development by taking an active lead in after school sports clubs, Change4Life, Inspire: Physical Activity, Mini Leaders, Young Leaders, This Girl Can, Sports Ambassadors and planning sporting challenges and active dinner playtimes.

As part of our PE funding, we have developed strong links with Erewash School Sports Partnership, resulting in opportunities for Ladywood children to compete in many sporting competitions and festivals against children from other local schools. Furthermore, Ladywood staff members regularly attend cluster meetings and training opportunities with the core aim to improve the quality and quantity of PE and sport in schools, and to engage, motivate and include as many people as possible in a positive PE and sport experience.



1. To give the children opportunities to develop agility, balance and coordination skills across a range of sporting disciplines.

2. To plan lessons that will allow children to be physically active for sustained periods of time.

3. To encourage children to participate in both intra and inter sports competitions and festivals.

4. To develop the social skills of fair play, co-operation, and good sporting behaviour as individual participants, team members and spectators.

5. To promote an awareness and positive attitude towards healthy lifestyles, personal fitness, and safety.
